A Quick and Dirty Author Bio
Call
me Simona.
Not my real name, of course, but it makes a fine pen name for a romance writer, don’t you think? I took the name at the request of my publishers, to distinguish my romance writing from my more literary novels, which I write under my God-given—or, at least, parent-given—name, Roslyn Carrington. You can click here for my literary novels, all set in Trinidad and Tobago, where I was born and still live.
For those of you who are curious as to the origins of my nom de plume, look no further than the feline goddess who deigned to share my home for eight years, the great, the only Simona the Lizard Killer. Sadly, she died in June 2003, just a few weeks after the arrival of my firstborn, my son, Riley. Apart from the loss of such a wonderful friend, my deepest regret is that my son never got the chance to know her, or to pull her tail even once.
I share a home in the foothills of Northern Trinidad with my live-in love and true-to-life romantic hero, Rawle. We welcomed our second born, Megan, in June of 2005, so we are still reeling from the pleasures and pressures of being parents to such a wonderful, self-assured, demanding, darling, infuriating, soak-up-everything-you-say, test-your-patience, make-you-laugh, light-up-your-life, make-you-thank-God-they’re-yours duo.
What else? Let’s see…apart from doing the motherhood thing, there’s my fifteen year history in the field of Public Relations, the aquarium full of tropical fish, the dog, the garden full of fruit trees and vegetables, the obsession with cooking (the more fattening the dish, the better), the addiction to the comic art by the likes of Keith Knight and Aaron McGruder, and the chocolate compulsion. I fill whatever time I have left dreaming about romance and writing.
