You could name him Ezra or Isaiah; it wouldn't matter. It's all about the story for me. So knock yourself out.
Roslyn answers:
I dunno. There's definitely evidence that a person's name helps determine how people view them. And there are names that sound more masculine than others.
But I do agree with you: It IS about the story. I always bear that in mind when I write.

I read your book May Summer Never End for a book report I had to do. Your book was so good I went out and got my self Wonderful and Wild, I just started and I can't put it down! you are such a great writer. I love how your are very detailed but not so much that you take up a whole chapter to describe a scene like other authors like to do! keep it up!
Roslyn is glowing:
Hey Kayjean, thanks so much. I'm glad you liked my books, and SO glad you got to do a book report on a romance novel. That's cool. By the way, May Summer Never End and Wonderful and Wild are actually my favourites!

Hello Ms. Simona Taylor, I just finished your novel Meet Me In Paris..It was "GREAT". I am an hopeless romantic and very much enjoy reading novels of such..Actually my sentiment is since I don't have romance in my own life let me exscape to a world where it is plentiful Lol! Having Sex in a book is cool but I'm more for a storyline and a plot that has a little realism there.. The book wasn't predictable and I could appreciate that...While I was reading I was thinking to myself "Are there really good men out there like that, who are afraid of loving someone again but has a deep desire too?". Another treat for me in the book was that she was an everyday working woman trying to make a life for herself despite making some wrong decision for what she thought was the right reason. Again, some books you read everyone has their own business, or financially stable, or something like that. Travel Agents, secretaries, administrative woman are intelligent, have big hearts, and long for a decent companion as well! Your professionally life doesn't measure intelligence. In summary, I loved it!! I hope you're going to write another book soon and if you have another one I better get on it... Good Luck and Much Success! Your New Fan Jataun S.
Roslyn hollers:
Jataun, you made my day, week and month. You have NO IDEA how happy I am to hear you say you like to read romances about ordinary people. That's a very big thing for me. I believe my characters should be just like you and me, catching our tails to make ends meet, living our lives, and being happy. You'll never find me writing about billionaire playboys!
I'm so glad you liked it!

Dear Ms Rosalyn, Enjoyed your book so much. Glad my Kimani foursome came early. Read it in a day. Kendra and Trey made me want to root for a happy ending!!! They both had MAJOR ISSUES!!! Amazing when Kendra fought for herself, Trey just gave in or the light bulb went off, he could work with her. Guess she reminded him of his mother, Marlene... At first the title didn't seem to fit but for the two lovebirds, it made perfect sense!!! Continue the scribbling! Thanks, Mary
Roslyn agrees:
Yes, I guess the title only really kicks in near the end. But Trey was a cutie, wasn't he.

Hi Roslyn: This past weekend (03/14/09) while browsing around my favorite used book store in Takoma Park, MD, I discovered "you" when I purchased "May Summer Never End". What a great find! I usually judge whether I'm going to purchase a book or not by reading a few lines in Chapter 1. If the author's voice and style captures my intellect then I buy the book. You have such a natural flow for words and telling a story that I'm enjoying the book and look forward to reading more from you. I am an avid reader, a Jazz vocalist and a wanna-be romance writer myself. My writer's circle is working on character development next month and I've started writing in earnest my own story-yeah me. I must admit that my muse thus far has been Nora Roberts but I see you, a fellow woman of color, quickly taking her place. Keep up the good work! Happy writing.
Roslyn answers:
Hey Rene, thanks so much for all the great things you said about May Summer Never End. I particularly like that one because it was based on the year I spent in the South of France when I was 21, or, as I call it, 'Mon Annee Sandwich', my sandwich year, between two slices of reality!
Good luck with your romance writing, and please, please keep me informed. I'm always happy to see a sister writer get out there and succeed!

Dear Joeli, Thank you for your kind note. I do miss my father every day. Unfortunately, however, our legal system being what it is, I hold no hope for the man responsible for his death ever being brought to justice. I can only hope that his own personal guilt and conviction will do the job.

I am reading Dear Rita and it is very good. I discovered your website and love it. I have decided to take the 50 book challenge. I'm reading your book and also listening to an audio book. I hope they count! I have two very active sons and I try to get in as much reading time as I possible can because it is a great stress reliever for me. My older son has autism so he keeps me very busy. Please keep writing and you will have a great publisher for your next great work-don't worry. Peace and blessings.
Roslyn replies with a big grin:
Hi Simone,
Glad you liked Dear Rita.
Of course audio books count! Anything counts as long as it's enriching you. And I know what it's like to try to read when you have small children!. After I had mine, I think I read maybe 3 books a year. That's why I took up the challenge: I realised that as much as I love my kids, I couldn't let all my domestic duties keep me from nourishing my mind.
Thanks for your blessings, and I'm sending some right back to you and your family.

I don't think I have the gumption to self-publish, especially since I don't life in the US. Kimani is still willing to look at new stuff, and I'm looking around at other publishers, so things should work out okay. Thanks for reading my blog!

I'll tell you who you are, Roslyn. You're still Trevor Carrington's daughter. My father passed away in 1999 (he had a long, happy life, and I thought of him quite a bit last week, as July 6th would have been his 97th birthday), and nobody had better try to tell me I'm not still the daughter of James Gordon Griffin. Life has certainly punched you in the belly lately. I don't think your crying jags are so much a reaction to being dropped by a publisher as they are a reaction to all the stressful situations that have happened in your life these last few months. (I know everybody's different, but when I was told that Arabesque was going in a different direction that did not include me I didn't shed a tear, I just wanted to know what the new direction was so I'd have a clear understanding of exactly what the heck was going on. Of course, by the time the letter came informing me - about eight months later - I'd already figured it out.) You're a talented writer, and there will always be a place in the market for writers with talent. Publishers make changes all the time (especially Harlequin, being one of the larger ones out there). Fortunately, there are other publishers to approach, and you already have demonstrated the ability write in more than one genre. So carry on and keep writing, like the daughter of Trevor Carrington would do. My condolences to you and your family on your losses.
Roslyn replies
Thank you, Bettye. It's good to know that somebody understands, and cares enough to write.

Hi Ros Our books came out in April together. Didn't know you were a Trini, I'm English born-Guyana raised. I'm commenting on your Me Day blog. I find that it actually takes about two days to unwind to get to the point where I can enjoy a calmer moment. Of course, that's rare, so then then the Me day becomes rare. Good luck with yours.
Roslyn answers through a cloud of fatigue:
Hi, Michelle. You're right about that! My "Me Day" turned into a "me two hours", which, as you can imagine, didn't do much. One of these good weeks I'll try the two week thing, if I can get over the guilt!

We are thinking of you all - what a tragedy for your family. He was a giant of a man who touched us all and made our lives that bit more interesting. It was a great privilege to know him and his imprint can be seen in the great family that he and Cynthia produced. May you all gain the strength to cope with this terrible loss.
Roslyn responds
Thank you, Eileen. That was a very moving tribute. I'll pass it on to my mother.

Roslyn, I was so sorry to hear about Uncle Trevor. I want you to know that the Hosein kids loved Uncle Trevor very much. He was great fun. My two most enduring memories of him are Uncle Trevor and Daddy both at UWI in Kingston (or shortly after) calling each other "Genius" and heading out for a watering hole after they say "Let's roll" - I was three or so - and then a good, good fete at your home in Santa Cruz - when we were teens - and seeing Uncle Trevor and Aunt Cynthia dancing, Uncle Trevor was in full "get sumting and wave" mode. A beautiful bright light went out this Saturday night. We are all thinking of your family.
Roslyn replies
Thanks, Monique! I needed to hear that. It's a wonderful image, and just like my father. It was wonderful seeing your Dad and hearing Michael on the phone. Y'all be sure to drop me an e-mail so I can get in touch and hear what you're up to.

Sheesh...life marches on whether you got the time to put your clothes on or not! *steups* It blows my mind that you are able to accomplish so much WITH the pickneys in tow! You are amazing! :) *smooches* and see you soon.
