The World of Romance - from the mind of a man!
Interview with Wayne Jordan
As
a man, what do you think you bring to your romance novels that female writers
can’t?
I think I bring a true male voice to the genre. Not that female authors can’t write believable male characters, but I think I’m able to dig deeper into the male psyche since I can draw on my own experiences.
In what ways do you think you’re no different from a female writer?
I can write about love; I can write sensitive romantic love scenes; and I can write stories that end with a happily-ever-after.
You set your novels in your homeland, Barbados. What does this mean for you?
It means a lot to me. I’ve read books over the years with setting all over the world and being able to share my island with readers is a pleasure. #1 Reviewer Harriet Klausner calls them my Barbados tales.
What kind of reactions do you get when you tell people you’re a romance writer?
Surprised is usually the main reaction, but then they all get excited and want to know where they can get copies.
What was your greatest writing moment?
I think that winning the Emma Award for Favorite New Author at the Romance Slam Jam Conference in 2006 was the moment for me. I felt truly blessed and honored.
What other genre are you dying to try?
I’m dying to write Romantic Suspense and plan to start on one sometime in the near future. I love suspense and I love romance, so it seems idea to combine the too.
Tell us about your best, worst, weirdest experience with a fan.
I don’t think I’ve had any really weird experiences with fans. They’ve all be pretty normal, but I do find it endearing when readers have a page in their scrapbook.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on two things right now. The third book in my Buchanan Brothers Series, Daniel’s Story, WHISPERS AT MIDNIGHT and a Novella for Parker Publishing.
